Dr. Claire Gormley (Insight@UCD; Analytics – PI; female, h-index 17) is a methodological statistician with an applied focus. She is also a Funded Investigator in the Insight Centre for Data Analytics. Claire develops bespoke statistical methods to analyse data in a wide range of fields, including epigenomics, metabolomics, genomics, social science, sports science, political science and orthopaedics. Her research interests include latent variable models, mixture models, mixed-data models, rank data models, computational statistics and Bayesian statistics. She has made strong contributions to the area of model-based clustering, developing apposite approaches for a range of data types. Her 6 open source R packages have been downloaded over 90,000 times in over 135 countries since 2012. Claire has ~975 Google Scholar citations. In May of 2020 Claire was promoted from funded investigator to principal investigator in VistaMilk. Claire is co-lead of Spoke 6 animal breeding with Sinead McParland (Teagasc). Claire co-supervises a postdoctoral researcher and PhD student in Spoke 6 with Teagasc.
