Prof Donagh Berry (Teagasc; Agri-PI; male, h-index 61) is a senior principal investigator in quantitative genetics at Teagasc, Moorepark and holds professorship appointments at several (inter)national institutes including UCD and UCC (members of VistaMilk). In his Teagasc capacity, he is responsible for all genetics research in dairy cattle and is responsible for the development and implementation of genomic evaluations in dairy cattle, beef cattle and sheep in Ireland. He has published >300 peer reviewed papers in scientific journals (13,000 citations) of which he is senior author on 72% (first author on 22%); 40% of the publications have at least one industry co-author. He is workpackage leader on two Horizon 2020 (H2020) Societal Challenge projects. He leads a team of 6 post-docs and 8 PhD students, as well as being the co-supervisor of several other post-graduate students. Berry is the academic and strategic lead of VistaMilk with overall responsibility for the strategic direction and governance of VistaMilk. As director of VistaMilk, Berry reports directly to the governance board; through a reporting line to the VPR of Teagasc, Berry also has input into the Teagasc research strategy. Donagh co-supervises a postdoctoral researcher and PhD student (jointly with Insight) in Spoke 6 animal breeding.
