Dr Laurence Shalloo (Teagasc; Agri-PI; male, h-index 36) is currently working as a Principle Research Officer with Teagasc, at the Animal & Grassland Research and Innovation Centre, Moorepark. He is involved in externally funded research projects (finished, in progress or past stage one of review) worth in excess of €111M, €7.9M of which is allocated to his own research. This comes from involvement in competitive research calls both nationally (RSF, EI, SFI, EPA) and internationally (FP7, H2020). He has a team of three postdoctoral researchers, one technician and five PhD students and has successfully supervised 18 PhD and two MSc students to completion. He has published over 114 scientific papers and ~4,500 Google Scholar citations. He was responsible for introducing the A+B-C system of milk payment to Ireland, is responsible for the economic values in the EBI, economic grass selection index, PastureBaseIreland and a carbon audit system for Irish dairy farms. Laurence is lead for Platform 8 deployment and co-leads Spoke 4 on animal nutrition with Sasi Balasubaramaniam and Spoke 1 Soil nutrient dynamics with Karl Richards . He supervises a postdoctoral researcher and researcher assistant in Platform 8. He co-supervises the remaining postdoctoral researchers, PhD students and researcher assistants in Platform 8. Laurence supervises a postdoctoral researcher and research assistant in VistaMilk, as well as co-supervising a PhD student in Spoke 4. Laurence is also involved in Platform 6 test beds, Spoke 1 soil and Platform 2 communications. Laurence was awarded a Walsh Scholar PhD student to carry out research aligned to Platform 8 deployment with Trinity College Dublin.
