Dan Milbourne is a senior research officer in the Teagasc Crop Science Research Department. His primary area of interest is developing the practical application of genome-based approaches such as marker-assisted selection (MAS) and genomic selection (GS) in conventional plant breeding programmes. Dan also coordinates the DAFM-RSF funded “Virtual Irish Centre for Crop Improvement” the goal of which is to exploit genome-based methods for the genetic improvement of crop species underpinning Irish (www.vicci.ie). He holds the position of Guest Professor Yunnan Normal University in Kunming, China, and is an Adjunct Lecturer at the National University of Ireland, Galway. Dan is co-lead Spoke 3 pasture breeding with Aonghus Lawlor in Insight. Dan is supervisor to one research assistant and co-supervises one PhD student in Spoke 3 with Insight.
